Sizewise Privacy Policy
For Sizewise on Android, published by SiggySoft LLC. Effective 2026-10-24; replaces the earlier version of the same date, adding the reports sent with Send to SiggySoft.
Who we are
Sizewise is made by SiggySoft LLC (www.siggysoft.org). Send privacy questions to contact@siggysoft.org.
What we collect
Sizewise has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it sends nothing in the background: not your camera picture, your measurements, your plans, or anything about your phone. Information reaches SiggySoft only when you send it: a report you send with the app's Send to SiggySoft button, or an e-mail (see the two sections near the end). Google Play Services for AR, the Google app the camera tools run on, collects some data for Google; the next two sections say what.
The camera
Sizewise asks for the camera only for its measuring tools, and uses it only while one of them is open. The camera picture is processed on the phone to follow the phone's movement and find floors, walls and other surfaces. Sizewise does not save photos or video and does not send the picture anywhere.
This application runs on Google Play Services for AR (ARCore), which is provided by Google and governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Sizewise uses ARCore's on-device tracking, surface detection and depth only; it does not use ARCore's cloud features (Cloud Anchors or the Geospatial API).
What Google Play Services for AR collects
Google Play Services for AR is a separate app made by Google. Google states that it collects the following for every app that uses ARCore, whichever ARCore features the app uses, and that the collection is required (developers.google.com/ar/develop/play-safety-label, updated 2024-10-31):
- An identifier: your Google account identifier if you are signed in to a Google account on the phone, otherwise a device identifier. Google stores it "to produce analytics" and uses it "to determine user engagement, including AR usage by app".
- Performance and diagnostic data, such as battery life, loading time, latency and frame rate. Google stores it "to determine real-world ARCore performance, diagnose runtime behavior, and to help improve AR experiences for developers and users".
- Which ARCore functions the app calls. Google stores this "to produce analytics, ensure ARCore is operating correctly, and to help deliver high quality AR experiences for developers and users".
Google states that it does not share this data with third parties, and that on phones that shipped with the Google Play Store it is encrypted in transit. Google does not say how long it keeps it; the Google Privacy Policy covers Google's retention and your choices. SiggySoft never receives this data.
Where your data is kept, and for how long
Projects (rooms, measurements, volume calculations), the last values typed into each calculator, and settings are saved in the app's own storage on your phone. They stay until you delete them in the app or uninstall it; uninstalling the app deletes them.
If your phone's own backup is turned on (Android backup to your Google account), that backup can include these files and restore them to a new phone. Those backups belong to your Google account. SiggySoft never receives them.
When information leaves your phone
Only when you choose: the share button hands a Sweet Home 3D file, a PDF or a spreadsheet of a project, or the numbers of a calculation, to the app you pick (email, Drive, Messages and so on); and Send to SiggySoft sends a report, described next.
When you send a report to SiggySoft
Three screens have a Send to SiggySoft button: Send feedback, Phone diagnostics and the accuracy test. Nothing is sent until you tap it, and each screen first shows exactly what will be sent. The report goes over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to SiggySoft's feedback service at www.siggysoft.org. It contains:
- what you typed, and an e-mail address only if you give one, with your choice of whether SiggySoft may write to you;
- the app's version, the phone's maker and model, the Android version and whether ARCore is ready;
- from Phone diagnostics: what the phone reports about its cameras, motion sensors and ARCore features;
- from the accuracy test: the known length you typed, each camera reading of it, and for each reading how the points were found and how far they were from the phone.
It never contains the camera picture, photos, your projects or your location. The first time you send a report, the app registers with the service and receives a random identifier for this installation, which it uses to sign its reports; it is not linked to your name or your Google account. Like any website, the service also receives your internet (IP) address, and it keeps it with the report to limit misuse.
We use reports only to answer you, to fix and improve Sizewise and to work out how accurate the camera is on different phones. Reports are kept on SiggySoft's own server and are not sold or shared. To have a report deleted, e-mail contact@siggysoft.org with its ticket number (the app shows it after sending).
When you e-mail us
"Use my e-mail app instead" on the Send feedback screen opens your own e-mail app with a message addressed to contact@siggysoft.org; nothing is sent until you tap Send there. If you send it, or e-mail us directly, we receive your e-mail address, your message, any files you attach and, if you left the box ticked, the app version and phone model. We use them only to answer you and to fix or improve the app, keep them in our mailbox only as long as that takes, and delete them sooner if you ask.
How the data is protected
Android keeps each app's storage private from other apps. Sizewise uses the internet only to send a report you chose to send, so no copy of your projects exists on any SiggySoft server. Reports travel over HTTPS, are signed so they cannot be changed on the way, and are kept on SiggySoft's server outside its public web pages, readable only by SiggySoft staff. Android encrypts its cloud backups end to end on Android 9 and newer. Email you send us is kept in SiggySoft's Microsoft 365 business mailbox and is not shared with anyone else.
Children
The app collects nothing in the background from anyone, including children. Sizewise is not made for children, and a report is sent only when its user taps Send.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, for example when the iPhone version is released, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Questions: contact@siggysoft.org.
