What we collect

Nothing. The app has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it sends SiggySoft nothing about you, your device or your scripts.

What stays on your device

Your scripts and settings are kept in the app's own storage. The device's own backup can copy them to a new device, under your account with Google or Apple. Deleting the app deletes them from the device.

What the app asks for, and why

  • Microphone (and on iPhone and iPad, Speech Recognition). Asked for only when you turn on a feature that listens, and the app works without it. The sound is turned into words on the device. It is not recorded, not kept, and not sent to SiggySoft or anyone else.
  • Camera. Used only for Scan a code, to read the code on your computer's screen. On Android this is Google's code scanner, which runs in Google Play services on the phone, and the app receives only the text of the code. On iPhone and iPad the app reads the code from the camera on the device, and asks for the camera the first time. No picture is kept.
  • Local network (on Android, the network and Wi-Fi permissions). Used only for Connect to a computer, to find computers on your own network that run SiggySoft Teleprompter and to connect to the one you choose.

Connect to a computer

This is the app's only network connection. It starts only after you choose Connect to a computer, and it goes only to the computer you choose, over your own network, encrypted, and never through a SiggySoft server. Until you tap Disconnect, the app goes back to that computer by itself when it opens.

The app sends that computer this device's name and model, the app's version, the screen size, a random number that identifies this copy of the app, and the buttons you press on the prompter. If the computer's operator chooses this device's microphone, the app also sends that computer the words it hears and how loud they are, never the sound.

The computer sends the app a script and how it should look. The app keeps the latest one apart from your own scripts until a new one replaces it. To recognize the computer next time, the app keeps its name, its addresses, its certificate's fingerprint and a token in the device's secure store, which stays on this device and is not included in backups.

Who sees a script on that computer, and what its owner does with your device's name, is up to the owner of the computer. SiggySoft does not receive any of it.

Files and sharing

A document you import comes through the system's file picker or from another app when you send it to this one, and is read on the device. A script or report you share goes only to the app you choose in the share menu.

Children

The app is not directed at children, and it collects nothing from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, this page will show the new text and its date. A version of the app that needs something new asks for it first.
